First exam paper in almost 4 years!

Well today is the first time I am taking (academically-enriching *vomits*) school exams since 2007 and boy what a way to kick off my Uni exams!

First paper: Prices & Markets.

Boy what a gang-banger, literally. It is already my "weakest" of the 4 modules I am taking this semester (the others are Employment Relations, History of Management Thought & Buyer Behavior [major]) and I had a lot of trouble revising it, truth be told. Though half of it was due to my heart really being not in it.

So it is such an ominous omen to reach the exam hall, find my seat and at that point, for some reason I decided to test my calculator. What an intuition. The batteries of my calculator chose at that very moment 5 minutes before the commencement of my ECONOMICS paper to die. I lent the one Ian lent me to Janice. Funny enough, intuition also urged me to bring a 3rd much lousier calculator. Well better than no calculator I guess.

Then came the next shocker... Our lecturer had informed us in class that the paper consists of 7 questions, of which you just have to choose 4. Plus all the past year papers had the same format of choosing 4 out of 7 questions. So we all had our tactics as to how to score for this exam... BUT NOOOOOOOO... they decided to change the format without telling us (Stoopid SIM-RMIT). Instead the cover page now read, "YOU MUST ANSWER ALL 4 QUESTIONS"! WTFFF!

So whilst doing the paper, I lost track of time (partly cause I was stuck with the 3rd question which was difficult to me) and I only had 20 minutes left to complete the 4th question. At that point I also used up my whole answer booklet so I raised my hand to get a new booklet. There were no invigilators around. Of the MANY MANY rows in the Grand Hall at SIM to which an invigilator was assigned to be in-charge of one row... none of the invigilators saw me raising my bloody hand frantically in the middle of the exam hall for 10 BLOODY MINUTES! That totally wasted my time.

To make matters worst, question 4 is the ultimate KILLER-MURDEROUS question which we all believe was set just for those who would get a HD (High Distinction) for this subject. Seriously. Most of us have no idea how to tackle that damn question.

I didn't finish my paper and I am so totally going to flunk it.

Fortunately I am one of those who can shove it to the back of my mind and look forward to the next 3 papers coming up! Next one, SUPER boring Employment Relations paper at 1000 am on Wednesday!

And as you can see how "fantastic" my concentration level is... I am blogging instead of studying.

My "Spoilers (cars)-and-other-things-you-should-not-have-on-your-car-cause-it-looks-ugly" Collection!

I think to have your very own private transport (cars, motorbikes, vans, etc.) is really important. It gives people a sense of pride and responsibility in so many ways. And of it includes the responsibility of "beautifying" your non-human-but-equally-or-perhaps-much-better-baby

So if you are going to add things to your car, do so to make your car look AWESOME! I am all for adding stuff like spoilers, LED's, stickers, etc. I have some on mine but there are some which just makes you wonder if it they really love their cars.

Perhaps some drivers should realize that there are just SOME things/parts/stuff you do NOT place on your cars cause it looks really HIDEOUS! Here's the start of my collection...

This one looks like a miniature ERP gantry placed on top of his boot! (Taken along Sembawang Road)

And this one looks like he will use his "It cost me $600" shovel to dig up the dirt as he drives! (Taken at NUS)

I'd never thought I would put Hitler and hilarious in the same sentence!

What a POP and Blues Saturday

(Saturday 09 April 2011) was a damn freaking long day of events, think I was awake for 25 hours before crashing the bed...

Woke up at 0545 hours in the morning cause it was my brother's (Jon) Passing Out Parade (POP) at the Marina Floating Platform. Had to be there by 0700 hours to get a good seat. The view was great (it was the first time on the platform), the only horrible part was the sun shining down on the left side of my face. The whole parade was neat, tidy and simple. It was good. Defintely a hell lot better than my POP at HTA which was cocked up to the max! 3 boys did faint in the middle of the parade while the guest-of-honor was giving his speech (perfect timing). As usual a lot of excited parents, what is new right?

After I sent my parents and my brother home (Lucky him, still get to fly off to Phuket on that very same day whilst my Krabi trip which is around the same time got cancelled). Had to rush off to the National Library to finish up Elaine's law project. Yes one of the ways I earn extra income is by helping other people do their projects at a much cheaper than market rate with grades averaging A's or B's. Any project ranging from law to shipping to business to humanities, you name it I can handle it. I am that good, yes I know.

Anyways, after a couple of hours in the National Library, had to then rush back home to change for my secondary school friend's Kenneth 24th Birthday! We caught a movie first at The Cathay ("Limitless" starring Bradley Cooper, Robert DeNiro and Abbie Cornish) [Movie reviews next post]. Then came the tricky part of the evening.... Kenneth wants to "sabo" Linda since her birthday day is only a week away whilst Linda is secretly buying a birthday cake for Kenneth. So me and Ian decided we would just surprise them both back with a cake of their own. They never saw it coming.

Anyways dinner was at Relish at Serene Center along Bukit Timah Road (Cluny Park). The food was AWESOME! Cooked deliciously and savory. I ordered the Tiger Prawn Pasta (OK I can't remember the full name cause it was really long) and they aren't shy with the prawns. Had like 5 or 6 in the pasta. The portions are not as small as I thought it would be and it is quite filling. The place had a very dark, cosy ambience, kind of like a little eatery tucked in a corner away from the noise of the world. Price as expected not very cheap but reasonable. Like my spaghetti was $17.50. The service crew are friendly and really professional (I say that because they are all young, so its worth a shout out). Overall had a really great time over great food with great company (these are my oldest friends since our secondary 1 days!). And the rest had a good time poking fun at the "Am-Chio" guy saying he likes me. WHATEVER! 2 Birthday Cakes (wholly not slice) later...

P.S. here's Relish's website, part of Wild Rocket http://www.wildrocket.com.sg/relish.htm

.... Ended the night at one of the best chill out places in Singapore, Timbre Substation where the very awesome Goodfellas were on. Knocked back some beer and chilled out to the music. Of course Linda had one more surprise up her sleeve as the clock striked midnight, she texted a message onto the plasma TV at Timbre saying "Happy 24th Birthday Keeennnnnneeerrrddd", the Goodfellas read it out and poked fun a little. But it was all in good fun. Had a blast.
Left the place at about 0100 hours and after sending everyone home, went straight down to finishing Elaine's project (after some hard disk crashing again) and by the time that happened, it was 0500 hours.
Nonetheless it was a pretty awesome day, and the year is just getting started! :)

Once again HAPPY BIRTHDAY KENNETH AND LINDA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pre-Exam Fridays

Alas I can finally have one day where I can actually sit down and update my blog and at the same time relax while it rains cats, dogs, hyena's and elephants outside. This is what I call, ironcially, a real Sunday.

Had a couple of great bites over the last few days eating some old stuff and also trying out some new places as well.

(Friday: 08 April 2011) Didn't do much except have dinner at Kovan (Bagus Yong Tau Fu) which is a MUST try place, tried a big JUMBO sized yogurt and studied.

his is one of my usual food haunts, "Bagus Yong Tau Fu" at Kovan. They have another outlet along Upper Changi Road and are quite well known. It opens till late and you have a relatively wide selection of food to choose from for your own consumption. They actually seperate the fried food from the cooked ones so that's always a good thing. You can choose your style of noodles to go along (Ampang, Normal, Laksa, Tom Yum, etc.). I always love the Tom Yum soup cause it is spicy and sour, not suitable for the gastric. They serve pretty fast though the price is reasonable, cheaper would have been great. Good place to go on a cold day or if you are not feeling well. Of course parking is always a bitch in that area (since the store is actually down the road from the famous Punggol Nasi Lemak) so those familiar with that area will know when i say parking is a real bitch sometimes. Oh yes and another good point, this joint is halal certified. :)

Tried this new yogurt joint "Yoguru" at Thomson Plaza level 1 and this is actually their jumbo cup which is REALLY REALLY BIG. You can choose between the normal or promegranate (or you can mix) flavor of yogurt and add on the toppings of your choice. This one we chose strawberry, oreo and nata de coco. It is a little pricey to be honest and the staff (female service crews on duty that day) are decent looking though they have a little attitude problem. Or perhaps we were one of the last customers of the day and they had worked long hours. But putting those minor flaws aside, what perhaps was most disappointing was that though this was jumbo size and they really fill the cup in height, the middle is actually empty so as Linda pointed out, either the staff are not experienced or this is how they cheat my feelings for a jumbo cup. Wouldn't say I am a big fan of the place.

Since the exams are looming and I am super far behind in my preparation, I am either horde up at Serene Center MacDonald's or East Coast Carl's Junior. I prefer the latter as it is more peaceful. Anyways, whenever I am there, walking pass THIS sign always never fail to crack me up...

So if I were to order a mermaid, I really can't be faulted can I? I mean really, you are promising people you will serve whatever that swims. OK maybe mermaid's are a little too far-fetched and too imginable. How about a whale or a dolphin or a sperm?

Anyways the packed weekend spilled onto Saturday.

Britney Spears: The Femme Fatale

I am not going to deny, I have had a crush on her since she first appeared as THE sexiest school girl at the tail end of 1998. All any guy could wish for was to say to her... hit me baby one more time. If only every school girl was like her, school would be like Heaven is a place on earth!
...Baby One More Time

And boy did she continue to dominate the world of entertainment, good, bad and wild all thrown in between. At one point or another (whether we like it or not) we were somehow obsessed with her life, and her music continue to make us want to dance. yes the tunes were either annoyingly catchy... we were glued to her.

The Video's From 1998 to 2011

And who can forget her kick-ass (though lip-synched) performances on stage, especially the VMA'S which have always been a highlight of the night!
To date one of her best, most entertaining performances. LOOK AT THAT BODY! MTV VMA's 2000

And who can forget jungle girl shaking that hot body and prancing around with snakes all. MTV VMA's 2001

So this global mega-star entertainer, princess of the POP world or whatever she is labelled is back with her 7th studio album, abtly titled "Femme Fatale". True to the critics this is not a comeback album as Circus was since there is nothing to come back from. Instead this is a continuation of the Britney we know best. It is not about the lyrics or the vocal.. but the album's ability to bring you on your feet and start dancing. That's a great album. The album is sexy, dance-club worthy album for those who love head-banging to the beat, this is the album to buy. Noteworthy albums of the track: Hold It Against Me, Till The World Ends, How I Roll (best song of the album), Sealed It With A Kiss and Trip To The Heart. Once again she has done it again. Great album on the whole but if there is only perhaps one problem with it, it's the Will.I.Am produced track, "Big Fat Bass"... damn annoying.

Gonna give the sexy princess' new album here 3.5 AIYOS out of 5!
