Maybe I have been a little guilty of closing myself and being a little too private over certain events and situations over the last few years. Time to start letting go. Of course the secrets are still close to my heart but maybe, just maybe it is okay to let people have a sneak peak.
Since I have gotten my tattoo, people naturally have been asking why the number 7. To be honest, I have been giving half truths to all. It is still true 7 was partly influenced by a nickname given to a group of us, the 7AM Gang. It is also true that 7 is quite a lucky good number. Another minor truth was 7 is a pretty significant number in all cultures (7 deadly sins, 7 world wonders, etc.). All these were partial truths which DID influence the number 7.
But the real, genuine truth which perhaps dominated the influence of the number 7 tattoo is related to something very close to my heart. The number is part of the date (October 7, 2004) my best friend died after a fatal hit-and-run accident, he rides a motorbike. Funny enough, we were "brothers" for 7 years before he passed on.
I am not going to go further about us. It is not necessary. That part will forever remain private. But there you go, the real truth behind the number 7 tattoo.
P.S. Refer to the "The Truth is Out" entry.

I Got Sucker Punch-ed!
What was supposed to be an impromptu movie with a select few on Monday became a full-blown LUPPSUP gang outing to the movies on Thursday instead thanks to yours truly. After literally 100 texts and BBMs later, being the " 老大 (Lao Da)" , I duly chose 'Sucker Punch'.
*Side note: I really REALLY dislike people who can't make a decision to a simple question. It's either YES or NO! Not whose going etc etc. If you can't make simple YES or NO decisions and you can't make your own mind up fast, you don't deserve my respect as someone who has a mind of their own. SERIOUSLY.
And I must say, I did get Sucker Punched, literally. I thought it was some crap, lame, childish movie filled with hot chicks kicking ass. The only thing I was right was the hot chicks kicking ass.
Again, since the movie was just released I won't go into much spillage of the contents. In a nutshell, a young girl is placed in a mental instituition after losing all she has loved. She decides to escape with the help of some of the other girls within the instituition. Along the way they kick some major ass in a mix of fantasy and reality.
I like 'Sucker Punch'. It's a good show, not great, just good. I suggest to those who are going to catch 'Sucker Punch', please do watch with an open imagination and an open mind.
Watching this movie is like a fantasy within a reality. I wouldn't compare 'Sucker Punch' to 'Inception' though both dabble in the realms of treading the worlds of fantasy and reality. However, the latter is in a league of its own and really no movie should EVER be compared to it.
With 'Sucker Punch' is like you can relate to it. Let me put it this way, when we are trapped in a battle of wills in our minds we often turn to a fantasy to make it seem better. To give us the motivation to fight with what we have. And to fight for what we believe in. In 'Sucker Punch', I see a fantasy within a reality. A fantasy we are all very accustomed to in the way we want our lives to be, and the reality that we are trapped in.
*Side note: I suggest you don't be quick to judge something you do not know. People can tell and it will only make you look like an even bigger fool. Before you open your mouth to comment on something, think. Just because others can relate to something that you can't doesn't mean you have to try and fit in by judging. You may just end up insulting someone else.
Anyhow, the movie stars Emily Browning, Abbie Cornish, Jenna Malone, Vanessa Hudgens and Jamie Chung. As I said, the story is a fantasy within a reality and it is worth watching. Not everyone is going to get it because it makes you think a little, and even reflect a little bit on your life. The plot is smooth and straightforward. The effects are VERY GOOD, perhaps the movie's best selling points. Don't bother looking for acting skills, there is no need for it here. Hot girls kicking ass is always a plus point.
And so as we escape to our fantasy sanctuary, far away from the prisons of reality, I give this movie 2.5 AIYOS out of 5!

So Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf? (I Promise NO SPOILERS)
Much apologies for the lack of updates for I have been too busy with school (endless amount of work to be done).
Anyways managed to catch my second movie of the year, 'Red Riding Hood' so far last night (the first being Jay Chou's 'Green Hornet') at The Cathay with Kenneth.
And I must say I am 2/2 for movies this year. This was worth the $6.50.
Since the movie was just released I shall not spoil the story and spill the contents (yes I am actually not that evil). But what I can say is the new take on one of our childhood story takes a real, dark twist. It's kind of like a fantasy meets sexy fairytale FOR adults.
It certainly won't go down as the greatest flick of all time but it will entertain you enough to meet your money's worth. There is enough suspense for a good part of the movie both in the villian and in love. Yes what is a Hollywood movie today without Edward Cullen and Bella Swan wolf-style. The film is dark but still somehow sticks to its principles of the original story that we all come to know. The movie could move a little faster but then again, any faster and Amanda Seyfried's boobs might not keep up. Though if there really is a big flaw it would probably be the flat ending. A little more action with the villian would be great.
Overall I think the movie is worth a watch though I suspect the ones who enjoys it the most are the ones who wished Granny and Little Red were indeed eaten by the BIG BAD WOLF in the original story.
The movie stars the very lovely (and somewhat big-eyed adorable) Amanda Seyfried, the respectable Gary Oldman (though he is a real dick in the movie) as well as lesser knows Shiloh Fernandez and Max Iron (Son of a very VERY respectable Jeremy Irons).
*Side note: This movie is produced by Leonardo DiCaprio so it better be good.
Makes you think twice about eating your grandma the next time... Till then this movie deserves 3 AIYOS out of 5!

Lets Stay Fit And Battle The Fats!
In a bid to stay fit and make it into the SIM tennis team, thought it was time to shed the holiday pounds. Officially started last Monday and so far I think I am doing a pretty good job.
Yesterday I completed a 7km run with my secondary school buddies Ian & Kenneth around Upper Pierce Resevoir which included up and down 6 slopes. Completed the run in under 40 minutes which was a significant improvement from the first time we ran a week before. That first time was a 6km run in 50 minutes and I struggled. This time round I felt good.
There were even monkey's cheering us on... literally. Ok more like they couldn't give a shit but still interesting.
I guess the hardest part about shedding the pounds is saying no to food when you have been used to eating good food over and over again.
I love tennis. So this is my way of training for the school team though try outs are many months away. It's my last chance to get the Gold :)

I Have A Bad Thought!
I wish to get married before I am 30.
I wish to have kids by then too.
The thought is what if that never happens?

This Is How We Celebrate Our School Mates Birthday! Hot & Spicy...
Alas it is our "LuppSup" group's 3rd birthday celebration of the year. This time round it's Zhi Zhong's 23rd birthday (the first 2 were Ben and Rachel's respectively) after class in school!
As usual we left it to the mastermind of evil, Alvin to come up with the gruesome "sabo" plans. THEME: HOT & SPICY!
Well, I'll just let the photos speak for themselves... but it involved Wasabe, Red Chili, Green Chili, Tabascco, Sambal Chili, Garlic Chili, etc well yeah you get the picture.
Well... So here's a re-visit to the first 2 victims!
Unfortunately, mine's the next birthday in line! SHIT!

The Truth Is Out
It really isn't a secret anymore that I got an ink job done last christmas.
I have since posted it on my Facebook and Twitter sites.
I have been wanting an ink job done for the longest time, probably since my secondary school days but due to circumstances I couldn't get it done. Also I had a lot of different ideas as to what I wanted done. And I really thought I would end up like most people who thought of getting a tattoo done but never actually doing so.
Well, 18 December 2010, after 6 bloody long years of thinking and various discussions with plenty of friends over the years, I finally got it done.
I was actually first inspired to get inked a long time ago back in secondary school by my late best friend. Of course being typically over-protective "brudder" he told me not to. Of course he told me not to do a lot of other stuff but I never listen.
After he passed away I never really let go of the thought but it wasn't a real drive to get it.
It only started picking up again when I was in the force and I saw a colleague's "work" and suddenly the craze came back. And well my 7AM mates were also entertaining the idea of an ink job for themselves as well. Fact Jo & Edwin already got it done. So naturally...
Of course I was uber proud once it was all done (BTW, I had it done at Hereen by the one and only Richard Tat) however there was only one HUGE ASS problem. I didn't know how to tell my parents and I couldn't tell them.
Yes it is also true that most of the time I am a DO first (after a lot of thought to myself) because it is my life, then say later. But to me this was one of those say and then i'll probably be killed by them. I actually hid the tattoo from them.
So 2.5 months went by without much of a problem. But how long can you hide things for? The truth will always come out eventually.
Went to touch up my tattoo on Monday afternoon (Thanks Nabs for accompanying) and returned to an empty home. It was stinging a little so i just rolled up my sleeves.
About 6pm my Dad returned home and from the front door he actually squinted his eyes towards my direction (I was using my brother's com and it's a direct view from the main door). I was actually wondering what he was looking at and when I looked down myself I realized I FORGOT to roll my sleeves back down. I was actually counting on the fact that the line of sight was dark and my dad is kinda old now so his eyesight isn't as good.
The conversation as follows:
Dad: Is that for real or for fun (indicating he saw the tattoo)
Me: (Out of pure instinct) oh for fun.
Dad: So it can be easily removed?
Me: Yeah!
Dad: OH ok in that case I am fine with it as long as it can be removed and it's for fun I don't mind.
He then left the room only to come back 10 mins later (and I suspect 10 mins of "Wait-a-minute-thinking") and started laughing.
Dad: *laughs* you sure it's for fun? if it's for real just tell me
Me: *guilty look* yes it's real.
Dad" *laughs more* I knew it. I am ok with it. It's expected.
SOOOOO I was shocked by his reaction. I mean between my parents I would expect the worst reaction to be from my dad. But noooooo he is ok. He wanted to have another look and that was when the "fun" began. Just as he said that my mom returned home and asked, "Show me what?"
Dad: Just tell her. You have to tell her anyways
Mom: What? You strike TOTO?
Me: NOOO...
Dad: Just tell her!
Mom: Tell me what. *looks at me* WHAT DID YOU DO NOW? (Isn't that nice, "what did you do now" like I always do something horrible)
Dad: Just ... aiya. He got a tattoo. *laughs*
Wo and behold, my mom rattled off (ok she didn't scold so that was a good thing) something like, "WHAT! WHY YOU NEVER TELL ME BEFOREHAND! LET ME SEE!"
Next thing out of her mouth, "LIKE AH-BENG!" (Again tell me something that I haven't heard) and she continues nagging about how I should have told her and how it's destroying my body and this and that and this and that. Then she just walked off and continued with her stuff.
Skip 24 hours and now she's fine with it. She ended off the tattoo subject with a... "Next time you want to do something major tell me first".
oh and my mom was also "scolding" my dad for laughing and being ok with it.
You see that's the thing about me, I usually get away with things. Funnily, my dad said to get one only and I was already finalizing in my head what should my 2nd and probably last one be.
anyways.. MORAL of the story: As much as you can hide the truth away from people or as much as you think you can hide the truth away from the world, think again. The truth will eventually squeeze it's nosy ass out and find a way to be heard. Simply said, you can't hide the truth for long it will eventually come out.
Since now officially the WHOLE world knows I am just going to post it up again:
*P.S: Next time round I'll tell you why the number 7.
I have since posted it on my Facebook and Twitter sites.
