Happy - My new commitment in life. Story of an adopter...

On 31.01.2012, I officially adopted my cousin's 4 year old Jack Russell Terrier. He had to give him up as the place he was moving to could not keep a dog.

To be honest, it was a hasty, whimsy decision (as are many of my decisions are based) and I didn't think it through fully, nor was I given a lot of time to think it fully through. I always wanted another dog after my first dog (3 month old golden retriver) had to be given back to the dog farm within less than a week of my ownership.

Sure I knew JRT's can be a handful and the feedback received from everyone has been unanimously similar - "Very hyper, energetic dog. Good luck!"

Happy (his name) has been under my care for 12 days and it sure has hell hasn't been easy. To my surprise he is very attached to me from the get go. And to be honest, it's still too early to tell. I have to constantly remind myself to give me a couple of months for everyone (dog included) to be properly settled.

Sure there are plenty of fustrating times, but there has been quite a number of happier moments as well. I guess I am not used to having someone or something being almost predominantly dependent on me. The rules of responsibilities have changed.

Can't quite say much now since it has really only been 2 weeks. Hope for better progress and more updates soon.
