I Got Sucker Punch-ed!

What was supposed to be an impromptu movie with a select few on Monday became a full-blown LUPPSUP gang outing to the movies on Thursday instead thanks to yours truly. After literally 100 texts and BBMs later, being the " 老大 (Lao Da)" , I duly chose 'Sucker Punch'.

*Side note: I really REALLY dislike people who can't make a decision to a simple question. It's either YES or NO! Not whose going etc etc. If you can't make simple YES or NO decisions and you can't make your own mind up fast, you don't deserve my respect as someone who has a mind of their own. SERIOUSLY.

And I must say, I did get Sucker Punched, literally. I thought it was some crap, lame, childish movie filled with hot chicks kicking ass. The only thing I was right was the hot chicks kicking ass.

Again, since the movie was just released I won't go into much spillage of the contents. In a nutshell, a young girl is placed in a mental instituition after losing all she has loved. She decides to escape with the help of some of the other girls within the instituition. Along the way they kick some major ass in a mix of fantasy and reality.

I like 'Sucker Punch'. It's a good show, not great, just good. I suggest to those who are going to catch 'Sucker Punch', please do watch with an open imagination and an open mind.

Watching this movie is like a fantasy within a reality. I wouldn't compare 'Sucker Punch' to 'Inception' though both dabble in the realms of treading the worlds of fantasy and reality. However, the latter is in a league of its own and really no movie should EVER be compared to it.

With 'Sucker Punch' is like you can relate to it. Let me put it this way, when we are trapped in a battle of wills in our minds we often turn to a fantasy to make it seem better. To give us the motivation to fight with what we have. And to fight for what we believe in. In 'Sucker Punch', I see a fantasy within a reality. A fantasy we are all very accustomed to in the way we want our lives to be, and the reality that we are trapped in.

"IF YOU DON'T STAND FOR SOMETHING, YOU WILL FALL FOR ANYTHING!"

*Side note: I suggest you don't be quick to judge something you do not know. People can tell and it will only make you look like an even bigger fool. Before you open your mouth to comment on something, think. Just because others can relate to something that you can't doesn't mean you have to try and fit in by judging. You may just end up insulting someone else.

Anyhow, the movie stars Emily Browning, Abbie Cornish, Jenna Malone, Vanessa Hudgens and Jamie Chung. As I said, the story is a fantasy within a reality and it is worth watching. Not everyone is going to get it because it makes you think a little, and even reflect a little bit on your life. The plot is smooth and straightforward. The effects are VERY GOOD, perhaps the movie's best selling points. Don't bother looking for acting skills, there is no need for it here. Hot girls kicking ass is always a plus point.

And so as we escape to our fantasy sanctuary, far away from the prisons of reality, I give this movie 2.5 AIYOS out of 5!
